FINANCIAL AWARENESS WORKSHOPS

A major barrier to change may be individual concern over the financial implications involved. Early access to impartial advice on these matters is essential to the success of any voluntary severance package.

Oakwell Consultants can arrange access to respected independent professionals in this field. Advice is available on a group basis, with follow-up one-to-one personal consultations arranged as required. Speakers from external bodies - for example DSS - will be invited to attend. Oakwell Consultants can also link in with our clients' own Pension Advisers if appropriate.

Naturally, names and addresses of employees attending the course will not be provided to any financial advisers, under any circumstances.

Subjects covered on the course include:

  • The importance of financial planning - life expectancy, inflation.
  • Taxation - personal allowances, tax computation, independent taxation, common tax pitfalls.
  • DSS - claimable benefits.
  • Retirement considerations - income and expenditure budget, the mortgage and other liabilities.
  • Establishing investment objectives.
  • Building a balanced portfolio - pyramid of risk and return, tax efficient investments (PEP/TESSA/National Savings), liquid funds, stock market related investments (Unit Trusts/Investment Trusts/Insurance Bonds).
  • The importance of independent advice.
